Who this is for
AuroraTripo is for adults planning a trip that costs real money and depends on something nobody controls. You want to know which place gives you the most dark, clear nights in the month you can travel, how long to stay, and what a tour will and will not do for you. We cover twelve places with the same fact sheet: Tromsø, Reykjavík, Akureyri, Rovaniemi, Levi, Saariselkä, Abisko, Kiruna, Luleå, Fairbanks, Yellowknife and Whitehorse. Start with the twelve places compared or the guides.
How the tour listings work
Tour links go to Civitatis, the company that sells the tours. We show the Civitatis listings for all twelve places with their review scores and review counts, including the weak ones. A cruise scored 5.7 is listed as 5.7. Where a listing says nothing about a night without aurora, we say that too.

Editorial rules
- No guarantees. We publish statistics for the sky (darkness and cloud) and state that solar activity is a separate matter.
- Sources and dates on every sheet. Prices carry the day we checked them. If we could not confirm something on an official page, we leave it out or say it is unconfirmed.
- Tourist-board claims are reported as claims, with the name of the organisation that makes them.
- No invented trips, guides or quotes.
- The method behind every percentage is on the methodology page, in enough detail to rerun.
Corrections are welcome on the contact page. Tell us the page and the line, and where the right figure can be checked.
About the pictures
The pictures on this site are illustrations generated with AI, and they are labelled as such. They are not photographs of specific nights or places, and they are not evidence of what any given night looks like. A real display may be fainter or brighter than any picture.
